900kW DIVE-Turbine set into operation

April 2017

In March 2017 a new DIVE-power plant was successfully set into operation in the south of France. The new power plant "Mourlasse" is located at the river Salat in the Pyrenees. The installed DIVE-Turbine has a runner diameter of 2250mm and an installed capacity of 900kW.

For this project our partner Oswald Elektromotoren GmbH from Miltenberg has developed a new size of permanent magnet generator, which is directly connected to the turbine for a max. torque of 52 500Nm. This represents the biggest generator built by Oswald up to now. The complete electromechanical job has been done by our French partner 2EI. The equity has been collected by a crowdfunding operation of 1M€ and a bank Loan of 2.7M€.

To protect fish from swimming into the turbine chamber the intake of the power plant is equipped with an inclined fine rake, 26° from horizontal and rake bar distance of 20mm. Moreover, the fishfriendly design of the DIVE-Turbine is of no risk for those fish which pass the fine rake and reach the turbine chamber.

With the high efficiency of the DIVE-Turbine power plant Mourlasse is the 7th DIVE-power plant in France to serve highest demands in terms of efficiency and ecology.
